About the chapter

DSTEM TSA is the Technology Student Association chapter at Downingtown STEM Academy.

What TSA is

The Technology Student Association is a national organisation for students in STEM classes. It runs on competitive events: each one has published rules, a deadline, and a panel of judges who read the documentation before they look at what you built.

High school TSA offers 42 of these events, across everything from structural engineering to video production to cybersecurity. Students enter as individuals or in teams, and the same event runs at regional, state and national level.

How a season works

Members pick their events in the autumn and work through the winter. Most events want a written submission as well as the thing itself, so a lot of the work is documentation rather than building.

Competition starts at the regional conference. Placing there qualifies you for the state conference, and placing at states qualifies you for nationals. Officers run the meetings, keep the deadlines visible, and help teams that get stuck.

Meetings are mandatory and open to anyone in the chapter. Turning up is most of what membership involves.
